Pink Bathroom Wall Graphics
So we are one of the blessed people with a funky pink bathroom. Rather than fight the pink I decided to embrace it. So we have a charming retro pink bath that is the girl's bathroom and we have a tiki surf bath for the boys.
I decided that I wanted to put up some vinyl graphics in the bathroom. I was perusing etsy and saw a company called POP Wall. I loved the designs they had and checked their location and it said they were in Georgetown. So I thought what the heck that is in the states. Let's try um. So I placed the order. Well I got an email saying they were out of a color I had picked and to choose another so I did. And then I got another email saying that my order would be arriving in 10-13 via Air Malaysia. Turns out their is a Georgetown Malaysia, and I ordered vinyl graphics from them. It is a bit ironic to me since I use to own a vinyl cutter that I could make these graphics myself with.
Neverthe less the graphics arrived fine and I was able to install them just fine.

Leather Goods and Custom Tooling
I have two wonderfully talented girlfriends that do custom leather tooling.
Madeira Semple has a leather accessory line Godspeed Leatherworks on Etsy. She does unique leather cuffs, wallets and earrings. She also has the amazing ability to translate detailed images to Motorcycle seats.
Tiffany Laing has an accessory line called Contrived to Charm on Etsy. She creates unique leather belts and really cool purses. Many of her designs incorporate the use of vintage scarves. Tiffany has an amazing eye for vintage treasures too.

Ornaments of the season
The day before Thanksgiving my mother in law Helen and I were able to sneak down to Solana Beach for a few hours of perusing. We had a great time. I hit my 2 favorite stores Solo and Leaping Lotus. Everytime I go into Solo I am inspired. I love the building for one. I love the collage of styles. We have a retro-modern style in our home, so I enjoy the books and furniture. I love the industrial recycled sense of the Jennifer Price section of the store. And I love Ruby Lane's support of indie artists. Her eclectic mix of treasures is wonderful.
Here are few ornaments that were in the store that caught my eye.

Rental Party Space
I came across this cool post called Smog Shoppe in the LA Times Blog. A couple in LA purchased an old smog-check station and turned it into a really cool venue for parties, weddings, movie screenings and such.
There is a property in San Clemente on El Camino Real that is an old tire station that I think would be perfect to do this to. I often dreamed of turning the old tire station into a loft scenario. I think this makes great sense.

Viva Terra | Favorite New Finds
The new Viva Terra Catalog came yesterday. I just love most all the items in their catalog. I like the rustic handmade feel.
The felted rocks are just wonderful. I just love the idea of soft rocks for the living room. The bird vases are so cute and fun. The are enjoyable with or without flowers. The handmade mugs have a great chunky feel and I love the glazes. I think I would prefer a taller version though.

Ceramic Fun
Today I discovered Megan Bogonovich. I found her creative cake toppers on Etsy, her store is http://melabo.etsy.com
I have been researching cake toppers since the kiln I just recently purchased came with about 7-8 cake topper molds. I have everything from humans to mice bride and groom sets. I love how Megan plays God and creates new creatures. Her web site has some photos of her other sculpture pieces that are a wonderful marriage of Ernest Haeckel Art Forms in Nature meets Alice in Wonderland. I think I will draw from her creativity for some of my new assemblage art.

Headboards Galore
Recently I decided to create a new headboard for a bedroom. I had never made a headboard, but was able to figure it out easily. I looked at a few magazine clippings I had saved and also looked online for how to articles. I decided on a large tall headboard. That fit under my window in my bedroom. I also decided to cover the back of my headboard. I like a real finished look. My husband Brad also attached the headboard to our bedframe rather than our wall.
I found my fabric and foam at UFO Fabrics in Vista, CA. They also will cover your buttons for you for about 25cents.
Here are a couple inspirational headboards as well.
I love the idea of a lit headboard. I think it would be so cool to do LED lighting that could changed with your mood.
This headboard uses a resin panel by 3 Form
I found this informational video by Grace Bonney from Design*Sponge after I completed my headboard but it is very useful.

Trend Tuesdays - Red and Brown
So recently I scored some great vintage finds including bedding that I gave to one of my best girl friends. The bedding had this wonderful red and brown pattern and now that those colors are on my radar and I am seeing red and brown everywhere.
Here are some red and brown inspirational images.
They first is from Upsa Daisy's one of my Flickr contacts. I just love the gorgeous weathered door with the red fall leaves.
The next images are decor ideas from one of my favorite home decor stores West Elm. They show lots of red and brown for fall and winter.
